Jitu Patwari Accuses Madhya Pradesh Government of Failing Women Who Helped Bring It to Power

Congress leader Jitu Patwari criticizes the Madhya Pradesh government, alleging that the women whose votes brought it to power now feel unsafe. Speaking in Bhopal, he claims rising crimes against women contradict the state’s assurances on security, intensifying public frustration and political scrutiny.

Congress leader Jitu Patwari launched a sharp attack on the Madhya Pradesh government on Tuesday, alleging that the very women who helped the ruling party secure its mandate now feel unsafe under its administration. Speaking in Bhopal, Patwari said that the “Ladli Behna” voters—whose support the government has repeatedly credited for its electoral success—are confronting growing insecurity despite official assurances of improved law and order.

Patwari argued that the state’s claims of women’s safety do not align with realities on the ground, asserting that rising incidents of crimes against women have triggered anger and anxiety among citizens. He criticised what he described as the government’s inability to translate its promises into meaningful protection for women, stressing that public confidence is eroding as cases continue to come to light.

The Congress leader further questioned the administration’s commitment to addressing systemic issues that endanger women, urging authorities to focus on tightening policing measures and ensuring accountability. He emphasized that safeguarding the dignity and security of women should be the state’s foremost responsibility, particularly when those same women played a decisive role in shaping the current government.

Patwari’s remarks add to mounting political pressure on the ruling party as concerns about women’s safety persist. His comments underscore a broader debate over the government’s performance on law and order and highlight the growing demand for transparent, effective action to restore public trust.
